More About Our Instructors…

  • YOO MI KIM has earned her PhD in Dance and is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist/Educator (RSME/T) with ISMETA. Even still, she’s in constant pursuit of knowledge & innovative methodologies to better help her clients.

Mind & Body is the culmination of Yoo Mi Kim’s passion and dedication to a holistic approach to physiotherapy. Her unique methodology is rooted in Pilates, not just as a fitness technique, but a system that emphasizes the need for alignment, integration & balance. Alongside this, she incorporates a multi-disciplinary framework that combines her breath of knowledge, training and experience--ranging from classical ballet, movement analysis, somatic movement therapy, among many others.

She utilizes this distinct perspective to assess and personalize movement programs for each individual’s unique history, goals, and needs. While Yoo Mi is experienced in injury rehabilitation, her aim is to have her clients develop intentional movement practices that encourage preventative care through an overall increase in strength, mobility, flexibility, etc.

Yoo Mi also has extensive experience as a choreographer and performer and served as an Adjust Professor at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea.

She brings into her practice a wealth of experience as a former, professional ballet dancer and movement educator that considers both the functional piece of anatomy and the integration of the mind & body in creating individualized movement programs for each of her clients.

She finds joy in sharing her knowledge and developing personal connections with her clients through one-on-one sessions with the awareness that to truly help them reach their full potentials, she must consider their unique histories and needs.

She’s available for Private Sessions at the Greenpoint and Sunset Park Studios.
